Principal Investigator
Jianzhou He, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry & Physics Dr. He is an Assistant Professor at Georgia Southern University (GSU). He received his Ph.D. in Crop and Soil Sciences - Environmental Toxicology from Michigan State University, and earned a M.S. and B.S. in Environmental Science from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Sichuan University, respectively. Prior to joining GSU, he conducted postdoctoral training at the University of Arizona and Auburn University. His educational and professional background is in Environmental Chemistry. His research focuses on (1) Methods development in environmental analytical chemistry; (2) Fate, transport, and transformation of conventional (e.g., nutrients and heavy metals) and emerging (e.g., PFAS and microplastics) contaminants in soil, water and plant systems; and (3) Environmental remediation of contaminants using advanced materials (e.g., biochar) and processes (e.g., AOP/ARP).
