The He Lab advances science and technologies for environmental sustainability by addressing contamination challenges at the Nexus of Soil, Water, and Food. Specifically, we study the occurrence, fate, transport, and transformation of conventional and emerging contaminants (CECs) in terrestrial and aquatic environments, and ultimately develop cost-effective mitigation strategies for soil remediation, water treatment, and agriculture sustainability. The contaminants of interest include (but are not limited to) nutrients, heavy metals, colloids/nanoparticles, nano-agrochemicals, micro/nano-plastics, pharmaceuticals, and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
